As a reminder to everyone, this vehicle has a reserve price set. If you bid below the reserve, you can continue to bid “against yourself” to raise your bid. We also do things slightly different here (taken directly from our blog post today): Our bidding, as it relates to reserves, is different than others though. Unlike others, we protect the buyer’s best interest by preventing them from overpaying. For example, assume that we have a very nice no-rust low mileage manual Discovery (sounds good right?). Assume the reserve price is set at $15,000…and the current bid is $10,000. Now assume… Read more »
Please note we have extended the auction +1 day to accommodate the seller who had unexpected travels this week and is arranging for a PPI that has been ordered.
What is the towing capacity? Found online that the original specs had towing capacity of 3,500, but that’s with a 4.2 liter OHV Inline 6 cyl.
That’s a good question. It’s certainly more than the original inline 6! I saw online somewhere that the 5.7L is rated up to 380 pound-feet of torque…not sure what the actual weight would be. If it helps at all, I towed a Toyota Camry on a car dolly with it and barely even noticed it was back there.
Hey Skyhook, question for you… Was the cruiser parked in downtown Chattanooga on Wednesdsay this week? There was one parked on the street there that I left a note on 🙂 Just curious. Beautiful rig, I miss mine I sold like crazy. Looking for a new one soon!
Nope, it actually wasn’t me…didn’t drive the cruiser on Wednesday. Whoever it was, they have good taste.
Wished they would have never moved away from this body style
Hello, where in TN is the FJ located? Thank you!
Located in the Chattanooga area.
Great looking rig … friend of mine had a V8 swap in a ’84 and always thought highly of it. How bad is that hole in the lower right rear?
Thanks! The actual ‘hole’ that you see (doesn’t go all the way through) is just a little bigger than a quarter. That area is definitely the worst instance of rust on the body…the other wheel wheels etc. look pretty good. As mentioned, the brownish color you see around it is primarily Rustoleum from my attempts to mitigate it, not rust itself.
Hey everyone, I’m the seller. This is an awesome truck – impossible to drive without smiling. With the engine swap, it runs like a champ. The 4-speed means it won’t get too terribly fast on the highway, but it cruises right along between 60-68 mph no problem. If anyone needs more info or more pics of anything just let me know, I’m happy to oblige. Thanks for looking!
