In 1967 the Land Rover company brought to us a radical new idea of how a 4×4 should be made. Engineers Spencer King and Gordon Bashford set about designing a luxury Land Rover estate car, leveraging a V8 engine and based on a 100″ wheelbase chassis. Rover needed something to compete with Jeep and its ever growing fan base. Several years later, the very first Range Rover went into production as a 2-door 1970 model. It was rugged, raw, quite vertical and would set the evolutionary design in motion with its raised wing bulges on the bonnet and floating roof line. The model would evolve through vinyl and plastic to updated improved trim inside and out over time. This marque lineup though wouldn’t show up in North America for another 17 years. It was then that in 1987 LRNA officially introduced the Range Rover to the U.S. market at the LA Auto Show and went on sale in March of the same year.
Land Rover never sent over two-door Range Rovers to the United States. These import 2-door models are becoming quite popular in the market place the last few years. Most that are currently for sale are located outside of the US…today, you’re in luck.
Tagged and titled in the US is this 1992 2-door Range Rover Classic. Recently imported from Spain, this one sits right here in the states with a clear clean Tennessee title. In fact, she rests just a short 2 hours away from Second Daily World Headquarters just outside of Nashville. This Classic is outfitted with a 2.5 liter VM diesel mated to an Ashcroft LT77 5-speed manual transmission and is covered in Trocadero Red paint. Having spent most of its life on a farm in Spain, the truck has only 127k km (79k miles) on the odometer.
Upon taking delivery of this vehicle, the seller serviced it including having the belts tightened, a new oil cooler was installed, rear pinion seal was replaced, changed the gear oil, and a fresh oil change. The body received some PDR work, a buff, wax and polish as well. The underside recently received a professional cleaning, and clear coat and a paint refresh were applied. Pictures prior, during, and after the work are included in the gallery.
The interior is clean and original. The tan cloth interior is unstained and free of tears. The dashboard, gauge cluster, and center console are all complete and intact. Heat blows well while the wipers, lights, signals, and gauges all work exactly as they should. The original radio has been replaced with an aftermarket head unit.
The classic car market is finally paying attention to the series 1 Range Rover. Prices have steadily climbed for the last 5-7 years. Recent well-presented examples have sold for over $40k at auction. Currently there are very few 2-door Classics in the US on the market, and even less in this condition with this mileage. Asking prices on those are north of $40,000. We present to you an equally comparable truck for far less. Shipping to the lower 48 states is complimentary with the Buy Now price or greater. Please register to Bid or Buy Now.
