The iconic Defender was made by Land Rover from 1983 – 2016. The “Defender” moniker, though, didn’t actually come into view until 1991, when Land Rover needed to distinguish it from the incoming Discovery. In the U.S. however, we did not have the pleasure of such vehicles until 1993. Land Rover of North America approved the importation of 500 Defender 110’s for the 1993 model year, all numbered and badged on the right rear. Following that ’93 run, in 1994 the 2-door Defender 90 version rolled ashore. Less than 7000 Defender 90’s were imported into North America in 1994 – 1997 and became known as the NAS ‘North American Spec’ (also numbered on rear badges) trucks.
NAS Defenders had to meet specific US EPA guidelines so some differences do exist between same model year ROW (rest of world) and NAS Defenders. The One Ten (110) represents the 110″ wheelbase length. The earlier ROW trucks differ from the later NAS examples mostly in engine and drivetrain components and lack of an internal roll cage. Very little changed in the 10 years prior to seeing them stateside. In fact, very little changed at all, ever.
Second Daily is proud to offer this 1993 (VIN codes to a 1994, title paperwork shows 1993) Land Rover Defender 110 left hand drive recently imported from Royal Overland Co in Texas. It now has a clean clear Tennessee title in the current seller’s name. Power comes from the original 17H 4-cyl petrol engine and 5-speed manual transmission. It currently registers 83k kms (about 52k miles) and this is believed to be accurate given the outstanding condition. This example comes from Turkey, with a make of Land Rover, model Defender 110 and is known as a CKD (complete knock-down) licensed to Otokar for assembly.
Financial and shipping assistance is available. We also offer our Buying Assistance program to help facilitate the transaction between buyer and seller. If you would like to have this vehicle inspected, Second Daily will cover up to $200 on a pre-purchase inspection if you go on to purchase the vehicle.
The arles blue exterior paint shows very well, and is believed to have been repainted at some point due to some paint bubbles on the door skins that are seen in the pictures. We so no immediate evidence of a respray or over-spray so if it is not original, it was done very well. There are a few small nicks to be expected, and a small depression of the right side of the bonnet. All of the plastics and lights are complete and appear all original. It is fitted with 16″ Boost wheels with seemingly new Torque M/T tires. All 4 mud flaps are intact and in excellent condition. Overall, this is a very clean originally presented 110.
There are some paint bubbles on a few places of the door skins and the pictures attempted to capture these areas. The bulkhead, door bottoms, and rear cross member all look good. There is some minor surface spotting on the chassis in various places but this is a very clean and solid example from what we can tell.
The seats appear to be new / recent replacements or they were very well cared for throughout its 55k miles. No evidence of tears or stains could be seen. There is ample seating for 12 with the rear bench seats. This one is fitted with air conditioning and the seller states it does work. The emergency brake also works. There is very little surface rust seen under the Land Rover rubber mats which is a good sign. The headliner appears to be in excellent shape, and all the windows reportedly roll up/down and doors lock with no issues.
A new gas tank and valve gaskets were recently installed. Fluids were changed recently.
The window wipers do not currently work and this has not been diagnosed. The rear seats are not currently fitted with seat belts and the right front blinker light intermittently does not work.
