The Land Rover Defender…certainly one of the most (if not the most) iconic vehicles of all time. Granted, we are little biased here at SD Headquarters but nevertheless we consider it the benchmark for 4×4 off-road enthusiasts abroad. What you know today as the Defender was made by Land Rover from 1983 – 2016…though technically not a “Defender” until 1991. The first Land Rover 110 (or One Ten) rolled off the line in 1983, followed one year later by the 90 (Ninety). It was the successor to the popular Series run (I, II, III). The biggest improvement was roll-up windows versus sliding glass panels so the bar was pretty low to begin with. If you’ve read this far, then you probably already know the actual “Defender” moniker didn’t exist for another 7 years, when in 1991 Land Rover added the ‘Defender’ name to distinguish it from the incoming Discovery.
Changing very little in exterior design throughout its entire lifespan, it’s hard for even the most hardcore enthusiasts to distinguish model years simply by looking at it…you have to look very closely for internal vs external door handles, fender flares, steering wheels, center consoles, etc…what other car in the world can age so gracefully over 33 years? In 1993, LRNA decided to bring to North America only 500 D110s, all numbered and badged. That was it, never again did a D110 cross the pond under North American Specification. All other 110’s are rest of world (ROW) trucks for us Americans. That year has been stamped in enthusiasts minds for a long time, making today’s offering quite special given it is a 1993 model year 110. Finally, we have caught up with the EPA rule.
Today we present to you a 1993 Land Rover 110 5-door that has undergone a very recent restoration inside and out. Finished in new Pearl White on the exterior with black accent roof and matching SVX hood, the restoration was said to have taken approximately 15 weeks. It is powered by a tdi200 turbo diesel paired to a 5-speed manual gearbox that has seen only 85k miles since new. It is equipped with both power steering and power brakes. This is a regular left hand drive ROW truck that has been legally imported into the United States and is tagged and titled in Florida. Shipping to your door and financial assistance is available.
Outside the new paint shows very well with only a few apologies that the seller notes. There is reportedly some very small paint bubbles at the bottoms of a few of the doors. The 18″ wheels are color matched to the hood/roof and 4 new tires have been installed. A snorkel was added as well as LED lights (reverse, brake and high/low beams).
Interior / Underneath
Inside, the interior has been reworked with new saddle leather with diamond stitched pattern and black accents. New carpet, new headliner and a 7″ LCD popup touch screen radio / NAV unit was added. The rear cargo area is equipped with bench seats to provide seating for another 4 people.
The engine and transmission received a mechanical sorting where needed. The underside is very clean and shows no rust anywhere. The builder only sources rust free trucks to begin with, and the entire underside has been completely restored for maintenance/worry free ownership.
The seller reports the only blemish/apologies on the truck are the aforementioned minor paint bubbles at the door bottom, the driver side rear door does not currently open, and a small ding is present on the left front lower sill just behind the front tire. The front tires slightly rub the control arms at full lock.
What would normally be a $75k+ restoration build is being offered here for far less given the few small issues the seller notes. Bid or BUY NOW. The seller has been enjoying this a personal driver and has experienced no issues. Air conditioning can be added for an additional $3000.
