2007 BMW X3 AWD 6-speed manual

Model History

It may at first seem a bit odd, featuring a cross-over like the X3. But a quick history lesson helps us make the connection between our love of Land Rovers here and this little sporty utility vehicle from the Bavarian Motor Works auto company. In 1994, BMW acquired Land Rover from British Aerospace (BAe) in a deal worth over $1 billion dollars. And although, the Rover Group reported a 35% increase in sales in just eight months after the takeover, the company was in a downward spiral. Fast forward 5 years and BMW unveils the E53 X5 at the 1999 DEtroit Motor Show. This was a 4WD cross-over that sent over 60% of the torque to the rear-wheels to retain that RWD feel BMW was so known for. After some refinements, the first SAV (sports activity vehicle) known as the X5 hits the market. Another 4 years later, the X3 was launched based off of the 3-series platform and went on sale the following year. This was (and still is) a more compact crossover to fill the growing gap between sedan and mid-size SUVs.  For the 2007 model year, the US market X3 was powered by the N52 inline 6-cylinder engine that debuted on the 2006 E90 3 Series.

Car History

Second Daily is proud to offer this 2007 BMW X3 in the highly desirable 6-speed manual all-wheel drive setup. It originated from new from the dealership in New London, Connecticut, where it stayed with the first owner for 9 years and 93k miles. Shortly thereafter, the second owner purchased in 2017 and then more recently acquired in 2018 by the current seller. Powered by a 3.0L inline 6-cylinder, current mileage sits at just over 122k miles.

It ships from New York with a clean title in the seller’s name. We offer a pre-purchase inspection reimbursement for up to $200 if you have it inspected and go on to purchase.

Exterior

This X3 presents in what is believed to be its original Montego Blue exterior. There are a few stone chips on the front end and a scuff/scrape on the rear bumper (shown in the picture gallery), and otherwise presents very clean and no obvious concerns. The seller does report there is no rust, in fact he capitalized it to say “NO rust” so that is reassuring. In June of 2019, the vehicle was subjected to a proper professional detail which includes dent removal, mild paint correction, paint polish and application of a ceramic coating using CARPRO C.Quartz Finest Reserve. Information about the professional detailer can be provided upon request.

The headlamp housings and rear lights show clear with no obvious fading or cracks. All exterior glass is original and reported to be in good condition. Nice to have is the factory BMW roof rail cross bars to lug around the kayak or family Christmas tree.

Interior

A peek inside reveals a very well-kept interior in excellent condition, showing very little wear that we can see. The seller points out there is some black plastic trim on the steering wheel that has started to peel which happens to most BMW’s of this age. Carpeting is clean showing, with only normal minimal wear. The wood trim pieces, dash, door panels, headliner and panoramic roof shade all appear to be in great condition. We so no obvious signs of sun fade and all dash buttons show to be in excellent condition. A rear BMW brand rubber mat lines the cargo area.  Rear seats are 60-40 split fold down. The audio system has been upgraded with BAVSOUND speakers and a under-seat subwoofers. The seller informed us that it has custom fabricated interior Sun/UV blockers made by Heather’s Original Heatshield.

RECALLS: The airbag recall, passenger seat recall & PCV recall have all be completed by BMW.

Known Issues

There is one listed “accident” reported to CarFax but according to the prior owner, the vehicle was stationary when the right rear, lower bumper was scraped in a grocery parking area in 2012.

Final Thoughts

The days of manual transmissions are all but gone, and certainly almost extinct in small-mid sized SUVs. This X3 has been well maintained and would make a great daily or second daily driver. It comes with a clean title, 3 keys, original owners manuals and original window sticker.The clutch reportedly engages and disengages properly with no odd noises or rattles. The transmission shifts are great thru all gears as well. You don’t have to believe us though, if you order an inspection on this truck and ultimately purchase it, Second Daily will credit you for the cost of inspection up to $200.
