The 911 Turbo was originally intended to be a limited street legal production run that would allow Porsche to race the Group 4 Turbo RSR/Type 934. Porsche was required to build 400 street-legal 930s by 1975, and so in October of 1974 at the Paris Auto Show, the German automaker unveiled the 930 to the world. Street car production began in early 1975 but would delay until 1976 for the U.S. market. Demand exceeded expectation and Porsche sold the first 400 production 930s within just a few short months.  Another 1,000 would sell one year later. And the rest is history.

Fast forward to the turn of the century…the tech boon is now a boom and those kids that obsessed over the 930’s are now flush with cash to buy. The 993 halts production and the last air-cooled 911 is a thing of the past. Introducing, the 996 generation 911 turbo. Built from 2001-2005, this generation turned many Porsche loving 911 die-hards into die-hard haters. It was the first water-cooled variant that shook the 911 air-cooled world but is arguably the most undervalued supercar in the current market. The problem though with the 996 (besides the aforementioned) is the market pricing relative to its successor, the 997. Introduced in 2006 through 2012, the 997 made some technologically leaps and bounds, but mainly the difference was visual as the 997 styling cues went back to its round highlight roots.

In 2011, Porsche brought back the “S” moniker to the turbo lineup to slot in as the flagship supercar, the top of the line turbo variant that had been absent since the last year 996 in 2005. All four wheels pulled to keep the 530hp bolted to the ground. And to some disheartened enthusiasts, the introduction of the turbo S ushered out the 3-pedals in favor of a beefier PDK shifter, Porsche’s ultra-quick dual auto clutch transmission system. This favored performance over legacy. I can assure you, you won’t be hearing too many complaints with sub-3 second sprints to 60, aggressive exhaust notes, large ceramic brakes and an adaptive suspension…you’ll forget all about that missing pedal.

Today we present to you this 911 turbo S finished in Cream White over Terracotta/black leather with only 26k miles since new. This 911 is reported to be in excellent mechanical shape having just completed a 24k mile maintenance. The original owner was MLB pitcher Daisuke Matsuzaka who signed the glovebox prior to selling. In case you’re not a Red Sox fan, the seller does have a brand new sealed uninstalled replacement glovebox that will convey. The seller reports this car has never been tracked, has a clear title in the seller’s name and ships from New Jersey.
