This is one of the cleanest Range Rover Classics we’ve seen in awhile. This is a 1994 short-wheel base (SWB), which comes in at 100″ versus it’s 8″ longer counterpart the LWB. Wheel-base isn’t the only difference between the brothers though. The SWB comes equipped with the 3.9L V8 vs the 4.2L. And the only other real equipment difference is the SWB’s were equipped with the 5-spoke TWR wheels pictured here.
Which is better? Ohhhh, you’ll have to decide that one. Plenty of debate around off-road performance, ride quality, and rear seat legroom. After that, it just comes down to looks.
We found this one listed on a popular FaceBook group, and is listed as being for sale in Rhode Island. Seller states it was a west coast truck until about 4 years ago, and reports no rust concerns. Seller does provide great pictures topside which is always so welcomed. However you will want to check the usual spots on these underneath (frame, underside floor pans, rear cross-member, rear seat belt anchor points in rear fender wells, and bulkhead).
Floor mats are OEM Range Rover mats, we see that it has an OEM cup holder installed, shifter panel doesn’t appear broken, and no visible rust can be seen. The fact that the seller shows the rear door arches and under the sound proof matting tells me he knows these trucks, and knows where you should be paying attention. If I was RRC shopping, which usually we are, this would be #1 on the list to check out in person.
This is directly from the seller…seller brought it over from the West Coast in 2014 and has been a daily driver for ~30k miles. It’s no mall queen, but it is a very solid example with no rust in the traditional areas. It’s a great candidate for a Overland vehicle. Floors, arches and tailgate are near perfect and the upper hatch is an aluminum replacement. Battery tray is solid with only surface rust.
Suspension is one-year old Bilsteins and Terrafirma +2″ springs plus 245/75/16 BFG All-Terrains. It has Terrafirma cranked trailing arms and diff-guards. There is ~34k miles since the engine was professionally rebuilt in 2013 by Inland Rovers, Riverside, CA (prior to purchase). Original radio overhauled by GB4x4 Radios, with AUX lead added and new Fosgate 4″ speakers F+R.
Extensive records of all service items and odds/ends (Recent new battery, alternator, distributor and coil, ball-joints front and rear, steering damper, fuel pump, heater core, etc.). Working still are the windows, seats, heat, A/C. Not working is the cruise-control and heated windscreen. Find this one listed here
